Elliott James, Prosecutor Orleans Parish – From the Chronicles of America’s Dumbest Criminals
BOGOTA, COLOMBIA: What do you get when you cross three women, three bad habits and 2 kilos of cocaine? Fake nuns getting arrested for drug trafficking. Three women wearing fake habits masquerading as nuns were nabbed after trying to sneak through Gustavo Rojas Pinilla International Airport in San Andres concealing cocaine. Police say the women boarded a flight in Bogota, Colombia with more than four pounds (2 kilos) of cocaine strapped to their legs. When they arrived on the island of San Andres, they appeared nervous, but the real give away: the fabric of the habits just didn’t look right, said the police captain.
The three ungodly women were arrested and jailed for trafficking cocaine.

TULSA: Request denied. Rebecca Bryan scheduled to go on trial for the murder of her husband requested a judge to allow a hair stylist to style her hair. Prosecutors believe Bryan shot her husband in the head with a .380 Ruger semi-automatic handgun.
I’m not sure what part of – you’re on trial for capital murder – Ms. Bryan is not getting. This ridiculous request speaks volumes of her character. But what’s more incredulous is that her lawyer made a formal request for it. What will she request next? A masseuse?

ROSWELL, GEORGIA: Here’s how one man decided to stop a hit and run driver who hit his wife’s car. He jumped on the hood but instead of stopping the driver, he was taken on a wild ride through the city of Roswell, Georgia. Elton Kim saw the woman back into his wife’s SUV in the parking lot of his dry cleaning business and told the driver to stop. She accelerated the car and that’s when Kim jumped on the hood. When the driver stopped at a red light, two miles later, Kim jumped off to safety but the driver fled the scene. The woman is still at large.
Mr. Kim gets husband of the year award for his heroic effort to stop a criminal, but to the other husbands out there: Don’t try this at home.

This case comes out of San Antonio, Texas and made headlines four years ago. I post crime stories that are quirky and a little bizarre but this case transcends the ordinary bizarre. I thought it so grizzly and disturbing, I hesitated to feature it. But the story is already out. Nonetheless, I attach this warning: May not be suitable for all audiences. Continue Reading
OKLAHOMA: 26-year old Lindsey Fiddler was charged in the death of her newborn daughter by tossing her into a washing machine with dirty laundry. Maggie May was only ten days old.
When police and paramedics got to the crime scene they found the baby still tangled inside the washing machine. Hardened detectives wept, emergency crews were moved to tears and a veteran detective was overcome with grief. Said one paramedic who witnessed the horror: “I don’t even know how to describe it.” Continue Reading
