PENNSYLVANIA: A Pennsylvania man, stopped at a drunken-driving checkpoint, barked up the wrong tree when he couldn’t resist the urge to bark at Chaos, the police K-9. Chaos was assisting with the checkpoint when 26-year old James Paul Andrews allegedly became irritated and began barking, hissing and growling at the dog. Drunken barking at a police K-9 is a third degree felony and Andrews faces up to 7 years in prison.
What’s next for Andrews? Barking up some bail money.

ARKANSAS: A 28-year old woman was accused of crashing her vehicle into a mobile home in Jonesboro, Arkansas. Her 2001 Grand Am, now freshly smashed, left her in need of another set of wheels to make her get away. Lucky for her she found a battery-powered toy truck and hopped in it. Witnesses say the woman, who was wearing no pants, fled the scene in the toy truck. When police caught up with her, she was drunk, irate and disorderly.
Blowing a .217 in a blood alcohol content breathalyzer test made the toy truck driver more than three times the legal limit. She was charged with DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
HAWAII: “911, the ocean stole my truck!” This was likely the phone call one Hawaiian man made when waves swept away his Ford F-150 truck. Police say 38-year old Norman Akana, Jr. was driving his truck along the beach when a wave pulled the vehicle into the water. It took a total of not one, two, but three tow trucks to pull it out.
Akana was arrested on suspicion of operating a vehicle under the influence of an intoxicant, refusal to submit to testing and reckless driving. His beach bail is set at $4,000.

UK: This shocking anti-drunk driving video produced by Leo Burnett for England’s Department for Transport THINK! campaign has gone viral. “Bar patrons” enter a bathroom to wash their hands and come face to face with a bloody face that smashes through the mirror – as in a head smashing through a windshield. Effective, yet disturbing. I give it two thumbs up!
Will it keep you from drinking and driving?

ATLANTA: Reese Witherspoon and her husband were arrested during a traffic stop when a Georgia State Patrol trooper observed her husband driving erratically on Peachtree Road early Friday morning. Her husband, James Toth, was arrested for DUI and failure to maintain lane. (Failure to maintain a lane will get you pulled over every time.) Witherspoon disobeyed orders to stay inside the car. The trooper told her to “sit on her butt and be quiet.” (Hey! Do you know who I am?) Witherspoon responded that she was a US citizen and was allowed to “stand on American ground.” (There! Take that!) The trooper’s report described her as being “resistant” and said she was obstructing his investigation. She was charged with Disorderly.
Witherspoon may be Legally Blonde in Hollywood but she was Disorderly in Atlanta. Allegedly.
(Witherspoon has apologized for her behavior saying she is deeply embarrassed. It’s one thing to make a mistake, but it shows epic growth to admit it. Kudos to you Reese!)
