A safety sofa. The safety sofa, ur, CouchBunker has been on sale for less than a year and its designer boasts he has already sold a few dozen. The custom-made couch offers cushions with a protective layer of bullet-resistant material capable of stopping the bullets of a .44 magnum. Each cushion comes with handy, yet stylish, arm straps so they can be held as a body shield. Beneath the cushions is a 650-pound, double-locked safe that can hold up to 30 rifles and shotguns.
You won’t find this fabulous piece at Rooms to Go. You’ll have to visit the Hunters Extravaganza in Fort Worth, Texas. The base model starts at $5,000, and the deluxe blue leather Bridgeport model is nearly $8,000. But you’ll pay extra for those handy bulletproof couch cushions, they cost an additional $500 each.
So who are the few dozen buying the CouchBunker? Women who want their bedroom closets back. Victoria Walker tested one out and explained that if her husband buys the CouchBunker, he’ll move his gun safe out of their bedroom closet – giving her lots more space for her own clothes.
The next time you’re in the market for a sofa, the decision will be a tough one: a designer sofa made from fine Italian leather or CouchBunker? Hmmm.
