Police say two thieves entered the Clifton Grill in West Rogers Park demanding food and threatening to kill the owner: “I will kill you, I have a gun with me,” they said. The two left the restaurant when the owner told them he was far too busy but invited them to come back in an hour. Taking the owner up on his invitation, they returned to the restaurant and once again demanded food. But since they had to wait an hour, they up the ante and this time demanded an additional $100 cash.
The hungry pair, who lived only a block away, were arrested and charged with one count of attempted aggravated robbery each. One was also charged with possession of a replica. The replica: a squirt gun.
Both appeared before Judge James Brown (no, not the reincarnated singer) who set bail at $25,000 for each.
