PENNSYLVANIA: A mother is facing charges after police said she used her two 9-year-old sons to help her rob a convenience store. Authorities said Christine Petrarulo brought her two sons into a convenience store and asked if one of them could use the bathroom. According to police, the clerk went to unlock the bathroom taking the child along and leaving the register unattended. That gave Petrarulo the opportunity she was looking for. She grabbed the money from the register and stashed it in the other child’s pocket then fled the store.
A masterful plan. A masterful escape. The only problem, she left one of the boys behind. The store manager held the child and called police.
When police caught up with the absentminded mother, she claimed she threw the money away. One of the boys was quick to correct her telling police that the money they found in his pocket was his “mommy’s money.”
What did the store manager have to say about it? “I’ve been robbed before but not with this kind of stupidity.”
Petrarulo is charged with endangering the welfare of children, corruption of minors and theft.
