CALIFORNIA: Two inept thieves might have gotten away with a crime but for one’s butt getting in the way. Nathan Teklemariam and Carson Rinehart, both 20, are accused of stealing prescription drugs and other items after shattering a vehicle’s window with a hammer. Unbeknownst to either, one of them mistakenly pocket dialed 911 while the crime was in progress. The dispatcher heard one say, “Get the bolt and give me the hammer just in case,” right before hearing glass shattering. The daffy duo then drove around boasting about their conquest. For forty minutes the dispatcher listened in on their conversation and was able to piece together their location. Police nabbed the two leaving the scene of the crime.
When told one of the suspects butt-dialed 911, the other suspect said, ‘This fool really called 911? Damn.’
Both were charged with one count each of burglary, conspiracy to commit a crime and possession of stolen property. Damn!
